Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding

THE GOOD:
Quite addicting
Plenty of moves to learn
Very good career mode

THE BAD:
Trying to get a number one rank could take a very long time
Some of the challenges are very hard

I never thought I'd play a snowboarding game because they just don't appeal to me that much, same with skateboarding games. But one day my brother asked me to play this with him, so I agreed. I didn't like it that much at first but I played it a few times and started to get the hang of it. Before I knew it I was doing my own career mode trying to get better equipment.

I don't know the name of a single snowboarder, but if you know the more famous ones then chances are that they are in here. There are quite a few real life people in this game, and you can use them in free practice mode. But the real experience of this game can only come from when you create your own snowboarder and go through a career mode with him/her. If you played as one of...

General/Summary: This game is a ton of fun and addicting!!! I really liked Brad's review below. Really sums it up nicely. I gave this game a shot on the flook that it might be better than doing absolutely nothing at all with no high hopes. I was quite surprised when the hours flew by and I could hardly move my fingers the next day from them mashing the control pad long into the wee hours of the morning!
Gameplay: You are working on getting sponsors and have feats to overcome to impress those sponsors. They even give you lead way with your outfit from snowboard, glasses, etc. Knock down the snowmen (if you can find them going so fast downhill!) for bonus points. You are like the icy wind cutting through the snow, riding the rails, the rooftops, the cliffs and whatever else you can flip your trusty snowboard onto. Add your own little flair of style and grace and be the photo dude's snow model...er, uh, role model snow boarder...for extra points and have tons of fun doing it!...

THE GOOD:
Great Graphics and Physics provide Realism. Very Cheap too.

THE BAD:
Difficult Control Scheme. Sometimes too realistic.

SUMMARY:
Amped is defintley worth getting. As you reading this, you can get this game pre-owned for $17.99 like I did.(At least in the United States you can) To create a good snowboarding expierience, you must concentrate on one of two things. Either realism or insanity. Amazing game like the SSX series have absoloute insanity while Amped tries to strike a unique balance between the two but fails in doing so. This doesn't make it a bad game, just a really realistic one. Don't expect to be able to break-dancing on your board while your soaring magestically 500 feet in the air. No, the clostest you will get to this in Amped is doing a triple backflip or grinding a ski lift rail which is one of the rare unrealisitic moments of the game. The game is great in sound. THE GOOD:
- Realistic (at times )
- Fun! - Both Career and Multiplayer modes are great fun, I've played this for hours on end
- Character Modifications - You choose what clothes your character wears, and where to put the skill points, you can have a snowboarder who is great at grinding rails, or one who can get huge air on jumps... or if you're good enough, both
- Hard! - Some may not think this is a good thing, but in my opinion, a hard game is good, because it takes longer to complete - it's more challenging! (but it's not TOO hard )
- Contrary to some of the other reviews, I find the controls easy to use
