I'm not switching to anything because some guy researched it and found if I learn a whole new thing I'll type 2 words more per minute or what ever.
As is a few people told me I type fast. So I'm happy with Qwerty for now. ------------------- ![]() Jeff Gordon FTW.

My keyboard has an enlarged delete button, plus rearranged Home/End and Page Up/Down. I do notice the difference quite a bit, you can blindly hit it without looking and know what you're pressing. The large delete key also makes it easier to work out which surrounding key you're pressing by feeling for the delete key, which speeds up their use too.
Insert gets lost to another part of the keyboard, but that's no major loss. Never thought I'd use the scroll wheel on the keyboard either, but found myself trying to scroll on the keyboards at work ------------------- ![]()

"Don't try to fix something that isn't broken"
I dont mind if they move around a few of the non-letter keys, most laptops already do that. One of my laptops has the delete key between the ctrl and left arrow keys. They shouldnt waste their time on making a new arrangement of letters though. Everyone already knows how to operate qwerty, and it works just fine. ------------------- ![]()

ever tried going from a US keyboard to another one? took me about 4 months to get used to the swedish keyboard. [ and ] are actually the other two variants of the A, and where ; is, is the second variant of the O. so the letters are roughly in the same place, but other characters are just...everywhere, and i have the fact that i have to use the alt gr key.

quote hiigaranI thought it was about different keyboard arrangements. Just enlarging a key though... yeah I don't see why you need to make a deal out of it. quote ArticleLike that. All they did was make a key larger. D: ------------------- ![]() Jeff Gordon FTW.

The solution is in the future of touch-screen integration to allow swapping between layouts on demand, rather than having a layout in the form of fixated plastic keys. Allowing a quick swap between QWERTY, Colemak etc. will slowly allow the gradual transition to more efficient layouts, while not forcing older generations to change. Eventually, as users of QWERTY become the minority, QWERTY will be an option rather than default, until eventually removing it completely.
And as noted in the article, the Caps Lock key is useless and annoying, and I've been calling for its removal for years. I've already disabled it in regedit.

I don't blame Lenovo in making the keyboard changes. Whatever helps that will sell more laptops (due to keyboard configurations) will easily be done by a manufacturer.
As for being a user that requires these different keyboards... I would just force myself to re-learn. Not like it's a big deal or anything to me as a user. ------------------- No gaming right now... my T42 video is toast (almost)... I'm getting zig zaggy lines all over the place. If Caps Lock isn't going away, it sure as hell better be moving closer to where the Insert and Print Screen buttons are... I'm so sick of hitting it by mistake. Especially while gaming.

I use CAPS Lock alot at work (more often than the other keys: Home, End, and Insert). Also, Delete needs to be in a better place. I don't like that it's bundled up with those home, end, insert keys.

Everyone wants something different, which is why touch-screen keyboards are such a hot topic. The layout would be user-customizable.

Caps lock should just be moved to another location, maybe swap it around with the Tab key. This is my keyboard, and it works perfectly for me.
quote Northern49What is the colemak layout? quote Northern49Touch screen keyboards will have their pros and cons. I think we had a thread about this somewhere a while back. My only complaint about a large touchscreen keyboard for a desktop is, it would be hard to find the keys accurately with out the various bumps and groves and feel of each key. ------------------- ![]()
