I'm cursed by the guy in the Dark Isle, and can't use my sword or any items. He just keeps running around using the teleporter, and I can't do anything except try to chase him, which is useless.

How do I defeat him??

What has not been made clear by anyone else on this board is to activate the witch doctor's island you must attempt to fight the voodoo boss and then return to the ship. Once this is done, old salty will tell you how to get to the witch doctor's island and it will then be available on the map." ref:thewolf on ps2 forums ...then the witch doctor will give you something to fight the voodoo curse.... ..good luck

Yeah, there's nothing you can do the first time you fight the Voodoo Master, so don't try. However, you DO need to confront him in order to continue your quest, so once he whammies you with his curse, turn your controller upside down and get out of there.
Once you return to your ship, you'll find that you're now able to access Raven's View island, which is the home of the Witch Doctor. He'll give you something to counteract the Voodoo Master's curse...for a price, of course.
