How old is Dante? Logically as Sparda fended off the demons 2 milleniums ago and he then quietly reigned the human world he must've had his sons back then. Which means the twins are about 2000+ years old . But here's another one, Since some ppl might find this silly, maybe Sparda lived a very long life (since he was a devil) and had his children like 40 years before DMC1 and then died. This would be more logical because : Dante's mom is wearing something modern, a red trenchcoat on her pic in the first cutscene of DMC1.

And then there's this: Trish says and I quote: "You're the man who lost a mother and a brother to evil twenty years ago, the son of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda... Mr. Dante?" What I take from this is that DMC3 takes place exactly 20 years before DMC1 which means Dante is 20 years younger. But if he lost his mom and bro, where is his mom?

These are some contradictions I haven't been able to sort out. I'd be glad if u enlighten me with official sources.

Generally it is accepted Dante and Vergil are less than 100 years old. Firstly, Eva is human, and they have a colour photograph of her. If Eva was alive 2,000 years ago, which she would have to be to give birth to Dante and Vergil back then, she would die thousands of years before even the earliest forms of photography were developed. This means Eva cannot have been alive more than 50 or so years ago, thus neither can the twins.

Also Trish says "Mother and brother", Eva was already dead at the time of DMC3, so she can't be referring to that, after all how can you lose someone already dead? Most people reckon Trish is referring to some incident in the twin's childhood where Eva was killed, and that when she says Dante's brother was "lost", it means that they were split up or Vergil became cold and somewhat evil, lost, as it were.

Lastly, the whole of DMC3 is told in past-tense by Lady, who is somewhere around the 18-23 range roughly in DMC3. So unless she's like 40 in DMC4, which comes after DMC1 it seems, that couldn't work, as she neither sounded 40 in her voice-overs nor does she look it in DMC4 concept art. So Lady, being very human, acts as a reliable measure that not too much time can pass between DMC3 and 1.

Hope that was informative, nothing here is officially verified, but from my reasoning I believe it's how it is .

I'm a little confused now... I don't know if the mangas that have been released are directly linked to the DMC storyline but according to the second one (DMC3 Code Vergil) Vergil and their mother died in the same incident, however Vergil climbs out of his grave and disappears. But like I said I don't know if the mangas and the games link or are they like the novel that was released...
I'm sure someone here can tell me!

I haven't read the books or anything like that, but I can tell you that the games are the alpha-canon, so in the case of any contradictions, the games as the original products hold plot supremacy. Whether or not Vergil died and came back to life or what I don't know, but whatever kind of "lost" he became 20 years prior to DMC1, almost definitely does not refer to DMC3.

I have no info about the books or the manga either, its just the game data I'm referring to, wish capcom had more on those specifics in the games, twins being 2000+ year olds would be epic

Heheh, thanks , and they may not age entirely like humans, they could take a couple of decades to reach adulthood like us, but might say, live a few hundred years before they get "old" as it were. Also yup, Sparda's old, he defeated Mundus 2,000 years ago and I doubt he was too young then if he pulled off something that impressive, so since Eva's life acts as a sort of bridge but it would probably take more than one human lifetime for him to amass that power, he may well be over 2,000 years old, or only slightly under it if not.

Simple, don't believe that scan. That was scanned from the part of the artbook dedicated to showing what DMC would have been like if they had made it Resident Evil 4 like they had planned. So yeah, it's the family, but not as it is in the series we know.

Whoa Sparda looks scary! Reminds me of Beauty and the Beast! So glad they created DMC instead!

hi In response to how old Dante and Vergil are. my idea is that SPARDA batteled against the deamons 2milleniums ago.
he must of protected the humans for about 1970 years before meeting EVA so that makes Eva around 30. years then she must have given birth either before or just after SPARDA's Death.
In DMC1 dante recalls his memorys as a child so when trish states
"20 years ago you lost your mother and brother to evil"
this must have been when they were children.
so in DMC 3: DA he must only be about 23-25
in DMC1 he must be about 28-30
and DMC 2 around 30-35

as in each game he looks as old as it is set
(so DMC3 he looks youngest, DMC 2 he looks oldest)

Yeah but did Sparda die of old age or was he killed or what? I think if he was killed we would have been told but if he wasn't killed was he an old man when he died??

--- The director of Devil May Cry 3 confirmed in an interview that Dante is 19 in the game. Meaning he's roughly 18 in the manga, which is the year before the game proper. A likely explanation of Dante's skill and mastery of different arms/hand to hand combat may be that, being part devil, he's more natural at it than a regular human. Thus, he doesn't require the numerous years of training to perfect the skills. ---

Damn. I wanted Dante to be at least a hundred years old by DMC3. I kinda like the idea of Dante being so old. Especially after seeing that DMC4 concept art with Dante wearing the olden-day clothes. He looked so spiffy.
