Decided to try DDR for the first time! |
|
Broke down and bought DDR Universe, and I must say there's quite the learning curve especially for someone like me who's never played DDR either console or arcade machine.
Wow..even on Beginner or Lesson Mode, it ain't easy at all! But, like any other game I have, it's going to take quite a bit of practice before I get the hang of it. Any advice from experienced players out there?

*Just keep on practicing!
*Try not to step back into the middle of the pad after every arrow; that's one of the most common things I see that beginning players do. There's nothing wrong with it, but once you get to the basic, standard, and heavy songs you'll have little time to return both feet to the middle. *Listen to the music! All arrows match with the beat. If you're with the beat, you'll be with the arrows. *Watch other people play (especially the more experienced ones)! Go on YouTube and watch videos of people playing DDR.

quoteUh, never return to the middle. At all. Middle is only for menu selections.

Hey, thanks for the tips! That idea of not returning to the center is solid...I kept doing that last night, and saw quickly how it messed me up. On the plus side, I DID get a AA rating on a song (okay, it was on Beginner...but, it felt good anyway!)!
Now, if I can only get past the lesson mode...that soft pad with the bundle sabotages you, I think! Too bad there isn't an arcade quality pad that works with the 360...

quote Mushroom SambaGood job! You'll probably grow into a technical player (gets a lot of perfects) or maybe into freestyle. quote Mushroom SambaIt does. I use to play DDR for PSX using a soft pad; kept on sliding everywhere. Then I got a hard pad with circular buttons and the steps rarely registered. Wearing construction boots would have probably solved that issue.
