Something that everyone has to learn the hard way: DON'T Rambo into everything, they'll tear you to shreds faster than you can say "... Wuh?". Instead, spread their units out, analyze your enemy's unit's possible movements/targets, and don't be afraid to have your troops fall back if the going gets rough.
Oh, and if you're capturing/restocking on health, make sure that you keep a few tanks or the like near them, so they won't get killed while being completely helpless ------------------- quote Axarcrie

Always be pumping out units. Try your best not to have any bases empty, and spend all your cash each turn unless you absolutely have to save up for something. And whatever you are saving up for better not be a useless War Tank. It should be something that counters enemy units which would otherwise cause you a lot of trouble. Cover your weaknesses. If he starts pumping out battle copters to eliminate your tanks, then create some Anti Air or Dusters. If his Anti Airs are a threat to your air force, pump out tanks. Stuff like that.
Also, do not neglect infantry. They're great meatshields, and are very cost effective. Their ability to capture is very important. Create them with your leftover funds for the day. EDIT: Didn't notice the first post being submitted on February... ------------------- ![]() Credit goes to Vector.

Also look through some of GipFace's videos on Random Wi-Fi if you're looking for random Wi-Fi help, digest those videos so you get the idea of what should happen in what situation, etc.

The only way to get better at AW is to play a lot. You need to play it and learn from your losses. Watching videos will not help you.
Now, once you get good enough, it's a good idea to see how other people play and start watching videos. But, there is one general rule to practically every map: you need to get off to a good start. This is huge for small maps and a good reason why bikes are good. The sooner you get to capture a city the sooner you can get more funds and go on the offensive. I really can't tell you how many times I lost when I was starting out because I just thought "I'll buy two infantry" and never thought anything of it. -------------------

quote dbzmasterWrong. After I watched those videos, I improved on Random Wi-Fi by something like 10 fold. Seriously, that one sentence sounds more ignorant than my post I recently made in the AW:DS forum. -------------------

Except no. You do not need to watch videos to create mechs or artillery, or to learn how to be efficient with your funds. I could go on and on, but watching videos will not teach you a thing except how one person's play style beat someone else. Besides, people learn different ways. I don't see how you learn a thing from watching a video sped up 6x.
What I said is practically the motto for every competitive game. Please, if you're going to go against something this taken for granted, provide -some- feasible evidence rather than doing better on Random Wi-Fi. Do I have to remind you it's basically random? Advance Wars is basically a big mind game. The important thing is to get accustomed to the units, COs, and strategies many people use; then develop your own play style. Honestly, you're watching someone else play. How boring is that? -------------------

That's like saying watching football or something is boring. Okay, I find watching sports boring, but why does almost everyone watch sport? Because they find it entertaining. Why? Several people do for different reasons. I watched these videos (And watch any new ones) because they were really good matches. That's one reason why people watch sport, because it's so epic. It's my taste and just about nothing can change that.
That's like saying watching a TV show is boring. "You watch Dragon Ball Z, somewhere you're not involved? How boring it that?" Arrogance. I'm not saying you're arrogant, I understand it is just your opinion, but yeah. You get the picture. I don't see how you learn a thing from watching a video sped up 6x. Simple: Concentrate and learn from it. If you use your mind and focus hard enough on each movement, you'll learn. Like I did. -------------------

There's a difference between watching for experience and watching for enjoyment. Personally, I watch the T.V. less and less these days.
It's like taking a test solely on the teachers' notes. There's always another place to find a teachers' notes (books, classmates, etc.) but there is never another place to learn if you can do it by doing your homework. -------------------

We stopped nearly two weeks ago Kaid. You're trying to stop an arguement already stopped ages ago. You're doing the exact opposite.

Lol! I've always found the people that go "guys stop this" never really help the situation at all.
There's nothing wrong with an argument/debate every now and then. Still <3 you Kaid, just need less hodgepodge. -------------------

quote KaidHaha, don't worry about it. A constructive argument produces more good than harm. Also, telling them to stop a week after the last post won't help much. As for the argument itself, it is good to watch some videos of other people if you're extremely new and need to pick up basic pointers. However, if you keep relying on videos you're just going to end up imitating the person's playing style which might, or might not, help. It's best to experiment by yourself a bit and find out what type of strategies you're comfortable with. ------------------- Who Cares Really?

quote MagimasterAt last, someone who agrees with me! I didn't say "you should watch each of these videos 10 times or more". Besides, GipFace's videos have examples of most and a lot of common examples of what you should do in each stalemate. Not all, but it gives you an idea of what to do with each unit vs. each unit.[/color] -------------------
