Multiplayer |
|
I looked it up and couldn't find anything conclusive. So I'm asking here, is anyone aware of whether this game has a multiplayer mode, whether co-op, split screen or offline? I doubt it will for some reason, and will likely get it anyway, but multiplayer would definitely enhance the experience for me.

I actually don't think there is, from what I've read. If I understand correctly, Sega has been working on an online multiplayer DLC for the game.

There's no multiplayer mode... HOWEVER you could easily just give your controller to your friend and just alternate turns

^Why wouldn't it work?? On a skirmish battlefield, each person is the opposing force. One defends while the other attacks, or simply a winner takes all scenario.
As I said before, although I can't find the source, Sega appears to be creating a DLC that will allow online multi-play EXACTLY as I just described. ------------------- PSN: Esoterika Playing: Mother 3, LittleBIGPlanet, Crisis Core Wanted: Skate 2 Waiting patiently for: Star Ocean Second Evolution

re: Multiplayer |

Well it would most definitely work online, but I don't think it'd work that well offline because you'd be able to see their troop placements properly and you'd be able to see what they're upto or trying to do.
That's one of the problems that was mentioned about CivRev for the PS3, that could work offline multiplayer however, because it'd all be done realtime (decisions would be made within a certain time limit), but since this is actual turns, I don't see it working out as well... however with that said, I'm sure that if the developers spent a lot more time and money, they could come up with a brilliant way to execute an offline multiplayer... but the fact that it'd take time and money is something that sega are aware off. ------------------- ![]()

A pity, as this game heavily reminds me of Advance Wars and Worms. Both of which are great fun playing against friends. There is a way to stop the other person from viewing your troop placements if they really wanted to. With Advance Wars (I know lame comparison) they give a warning before control switches, and then the other player simply has to look away. Not the most elegant of solutions, but it would work.
Still it looks like its official, thanks for the flurry of quick and informative answers. -------------------

That sucks. Seems like a cool gameplay system to go head to head with people.

Personally I get the feeling this combat system would not work well at all in multiplayer unless they change and tweak it quite a lot.
First, movers (attackers) advantage is enormous to the point of silly and secondly, its way to random. It works perfectly well for a game like this where one side (the computer) is more numerous but also slow, wasteful and stupid. For a game with more equal foes in numbers and skill I just think this would not turn out any good at all...

I would agree that multiplayer just wouldnt work well with this type of gameplay unless the maps are HUGE and you can have all 20 people in the match.
Otherwise, the player that goes first will almost always win. -------------------

Online multiplayer would work fine with this game. And two easy ways around the first mover winning scenario. Either 1 the other player has a higher evasion rate for the first move or 2 you simply space the battlefield out to were both teams have too move into position before initiating attack.
Strategies would way in heavily on whether or not the first move would ultimately lead to a victory. -------------------

re: Multiplayer |

you could lie in ambush waiting for the 1st mover around your camp. for instance set up alot of shock troopers around your flag and since scout have low health they'd be ko'ed quick and lancaar's move slow so shock troopers could just end up getting more hits in. its ALL about strategy.

re: Multiplayer |

Well it depends whether you mean Multiplayer as in Offline or Online. Personally, I HATE online Multiplayer, but l love Offline Multiplayer. This game would be amazing to play offline, however I just can't see it working, since knowing enemy placements would make it somewhat... non-strategy...
