Disgaea Cave of Ordeal 3 Guide |
|
I actually wrote this some time ago, I do believe I posted it in a thread in one of Disgaea 1 boards, but I can't find it...
Someone (Element) wanted some Post-Game help, and I brought this in as an assist. So I'm putting it back up, though since I lost the original text, it is probably not as well written as I'd like: ![]() Disgaea - Cave of Ordeals 3 Strategy Image Guide This is the second writing, couldn't find the first *sighs* So it is a bit rough. Black = Enemies. Cyan = Base Panel Purple = weakest spot for a 3x3 attack via Winged Slayer or Big Bang Yellow (no dots) = Weakest 1x3 attack (or single panel attacks forward) Yellow (red dots) = single panel or cross/X shape attackers (such as gunners) Yellow (Blue dots) = for magic attacks (assuming character has the range to hit enemies). Ideal because enemies don't often bother with characters that far away (Mages are weak, defensively, usually) Yellow (cyan dot) = Good 1x3 attacks (or single panel to the side) Yellow (green dot) = Best 1x3 (or single panel) attack points. Orange = Third best attack point (lower ground than red) Red = second best finishing spot (ideal because it is in range of the geopanel for many characters) Green panel is the best for a 3x3 attack aimed at the enemies, but most characters can't walk far enough and need to be thrown *Suggest you only use green if you have several spare characters, or are confident you can kill all enemies with several powerful blows. Attack (weakest to strongest characters) in that above order, cutting out the weaker attack points whenever possible. Modify the directions as you find what works for you, based on your current party.... EDIT: Dumb, I called the base panel the geopanel >_> This message was edited by tallteen86 on Aug 04 2009. -------------------

Fear not. Due to my sheer boredom, I've taken it upon myself to create a Thread Index. Expect it shortly.
Edit: Phew. Done. Let me know how it is. This message was edited by Magimaster on Jun 29 2009. ------------------- Who Cares Really?

quote MagimasterGood job ^_^ I can imagine it would be time consuming to do that (I should know, I've done similar things myself on other forums). -------------------

Maybe some people have only a strong character or an strong weapon. In my case I had Laharl at lvl 120 or something similar and a lvl 20 sword (it was months ago, I'm not sure). Powerful enough to damage the monsters to 2/3 of the total life points.
What I did was summon two mages, move them out of the monsters range, summon Laharl and cast braveheart twice in the first turn on him. Then I used the winged slayer skill from the blue panel, in order to be able to run from the monsters. So at the end of the first turn I had 6 "halflife" monsters and 3 healthy ones. In the next turn I casted braveheart again on Laharl and attacked the monsters. They dont move always the same way, so you may not be able to calculate the best place to stand. Attack the maximum number of monsters as possible, because now you have 4 braveheart spells on and you should be able to kill at least 4 or 5 weakened monsters, and that means Laharl will level up. Dependind on the DEF paramenter, Laharl could die in the next turn, so use secondary characters to lift the remaining monsters. You could also use a weak character as a bait, but that doesn`t always work. Once you kill the half of the monsters, the rest shouldn´t be challenging. Try to maximize the ATK parameter by wearing belts.

What about just spamming Winged Slayer or a Great Wyrm's Raging Dance? Wouldn't those work too?

The problem with spamming 3x3 area of attack is if you just rely on that, you might not do enough cumulative damage. You got to add as much as you can to the combo meter to boost the power of the main attackers.
Braveheart works though, as maxer said. Though if you're a weak character, you'd probably die unless you managed to kill all/most of them in a single turn. In that case, just combine the method I posted with boosts on your character. This guide isn't perfect, it can't account for everything on your party, you need to adjust for what works for you. The guide just tells you how to prioritize your attacking for maximum damage + practicality. -------------------

It works fine once you're strong enough to 1 hit KO em, in point of fact, that's the standard leveling technique on this and similar maps, the problem is early on when you don't do enough damage to 1 hit KO em is all, hence the guide for getting maximum damage combos.

Huh. It's a lot better than just smashing them in. LOL Although, I kinda like smashing things in.
