2 questions?

Hello, I have 2 questions, very different at that. First one, well I am trying to build my own computer, and I remember seeing in a magazine article that it was best to wear some kind of bracelet to keep you grounded. I was wondering what they are called, how much do they cost on average.
The second one has to do with PayPal, I am not sure if this is the right forum. I just got my first Credit card (well its actually a debit card), I was getting tired of borrowing my dads to but stuff online. Since I am new to all this, can I make a paypal account and just deposit some money directly from the card? Thanks for any help .

re: 2 questions?

I know what you're talking about, but I never use them. The most I've done is wear rubber gloves once . Just make sure you discharge your static by touching a grounded metal object.

If you really want one, just google grounding wrist strap.

As for paypal.

You'll have to set up a paypal account, and then use your debit card to link your bank account. The whole thing will take about a week to set up.

re: 2 questions?

I don't know about Paypal, but as for the grounding bracelets, the ones I have seen are 5-20 USD. I have never used one though while building computers though and I have had no problems. Just touch the ground and the case of your computer before working on it to discharge any static and you should be fine.

Edit: Wow, I got beaten badly.

At least you took the time to provide a link though.

re: 2 questions?

Thanks, you saved me 7 bucks on a ground bracelet and the hassle of getting a paypal account. I wasn't aware that it would take that long to set up an account, I thought I could just deposit right from my debit to the account with the Card number and pin. Thanks again.

re: 2 questions?

FYI... There's no depositing money to paypal, they just pull money from your account if you are sending money (or insert money if someone is paying you).

In a way though, if you have a debit card, you would want to use paypal as it will act as a buffer (or safety zone) in case you deal with a scammer who won't pay. That way you can dispute it and hopefully get your money back.

re: 2 questions?

Shaq, when building a computer, its enough to just touch the case to dischargw yourself. basically, you need to have the power supply in the case, and connected to the AC power. then any static will be discharged when you touch an umpainted metal surface of the case. note that its not wise to plug in any power cables inside the computer. just put it all in there first, then disconnect the AC power, then connect the hardware power cables. safer that way for your hardware.
