Canadian company manufactures record CCD sensor with 111M pixels.
EETimes reports that Dalsa Semiconductor (a division of Dalsa Corp. of Waterloo Ontario) has delivered a CCD sensor with a record 111M pixels to Semiconductor Technology Associates of San Juan Capistrano, California.
The 4"x4" device has a resolution of 10,560 by 10,560 pixels, making it the first high resolution imaging sensor to exceed one hundred million pixels.
The device, which must have an astronomical price, was developed for the astronomy department of the U.S. Naval Observatory.
