Activision releases info on the future of gaming, Guitar Hero IV.

Guitar Hero has been a craze sweeping the gaming world for some time, known for giving gamers the ability to "pretend" to be a rockstar via a Guitar controller peripheral.

Activision recently released new details which are sure to have gamers shaking with excitement. "Guitar Hero World Tour," will be following in "Rock Band's" tracks by adding a drum set and a microphone so you and three friends can rock it out in your lounge, pretending to be a real band, without the 3 years of learning an instrument.

Though no actual song details have emerged, Activision claims that it will have "the biggest on-disc selection" of music," with artists like Linkin Park, Van Halen, and The Eagles making an appearance, artists that the series have been lacking all this time. Activision have been putting the media attention on their Drum Kit, sporting 3 drums, 2 cymbals and a bass pedal. Another interesting upgrade includes the added buttons to the Guitar Hero controller, it still has the same buttons in the usual place, with an added 5 buttons lower down (see picture below) for an extra challenge, could these controllers become any more detailed...? Soon it might actually be easier to learn a real guitar.

New modes are included in the game, the following modes which we currently know about are; The Battle of the Bands, similar to the real life event, 8 players (two bands) play against each other online or local. Another new feature includes Music Studio where players can actually create their own songs "from scratch," and anyone can upload their songs online for other GH players to download and play.

All of the peripherals will be completely wireless unlike Harmonix's game, Rock Band. The game will be developed by Neversoft for the PS3 and Xbox360, Vicarious Visions for the Wii and the PS2 version will be made by Budcat. No release date has been confirmed as of yet, though us big fans of the game will be wishing it to be released soon thanks.

I was always curious as to if more buttons would be added to the neck of the guitar controller or not, and how it would affect the difficulty. At least it makes it more realistic, with seemingly more frets than you have fingers.

The drums look similar, but different to that of Rock Band's. I wonder if taking out a drum, and adding two cymbals and a bass pedal will make it more confusing or not.

I just hope that the Wii version doesn't pale in comparison to the PS3/360 versions too much.

The Wii version will probably pale in the way of graphics, and the online will most likely have a friendcode system, besides GHTunes, where you upload your songs.

Seems that, like GHIII, the PS3/XB360 versions will be better in some way, mainly graphics-wise.

It almost feels bad to know that the print magazines are this far ahead of everyone, the GI bit kinda took the wind out of any net releases or show debuts they attempted to do to make up for it to the other mediums.

It'll be interesting to see how they take it from here, further it'll be interesting if RO sends a preview kit my way for the game. =/ they've kinda fallen off with that over the years.
