Going multi platform always helps, though it probably doesn't hurt to be Darth Vader's "secret apprentice" on the side!
LucasArts confirms that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is set to become not only the fastest selling videogame yet for the Star Wars franchise, but for the publisher as well. Over 1.5 million copies of the multiplatform title have been sold just five days after the official launch on September 16th, a new record for a Star Wars title.
LucasArts' press release notes that while it shipped 4.3 million units of Force Unleashed for global distribution, demand for the game forced the publisher to request production of more copies. What's the appeal behind the title in light of lackluster game reviews? Perhaps the fact that it bridges the story gap between the "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope" films had something to do with it. Don't worry, it's all George Lucas approved if you care about that sort of thing, and it even taps into the dreaded Star Wars Expanded Universe!
just because something sells doesnt mean its good. there 500 million starwars fanboys so 1 million sales is bad.
besides think about this, once you buy a game you cant return it so 1 million sales doesnt account for how many wanted to return the game.
